Short version: we keep as little as we can, for as short as we can, and your screenshots are never stored.
Who we are
EmployGuard runs EmployGuard and decides what happens to the data described here.
Questions or requests: [email protected].
What you give us
A link: we fetch that page, read the posting and keep the link and the posting's text with the report.
Screenshots: we read them in memory with OCR on our own server and throw them away. They are never written to disk, never kept, never sent to anyone. We keep the text read from them with the report — if your screenshot shows your own name or photo, that text may include your name, so crop it out if you'd rather.
A company website, if you type one, is kept with the report.
Who else sees it
To check a posting we send parts of it — never your screenshots — to free public services: the company's domain to the domain registries (WHOIS and RDAP) and DNS; the domain and the job's link to the Internet Archive; the company's name to Wikidata, GLEIF, SEC EDGAR and Companies House; the job title to Adzuna.
If an AI model is enabled, the posting's text is sent to it to help read the fields. Its provider (OpenRouter, by default) sees that text, not who you are.
We may ask the Internet Archive to save a public job page you checked, so it has a history for the next person. We never send it a link that looks like it carries your details (a token, an email, a session).
Your address and your allowance
To keep the service free we limit how many postings one person checks a day. We count by a keyed hash of the day and your IP address — never the address itself — so a count can't be linked to you, or to your other days. Counts are deleted after 60 days.
How long we keep reports
A report — the posting's text, what we found and the score — is kept for 30 days and then deleted. Anyone with its link can see it; it isn't listed or indexed anywhere. You can delete a report you made from its page, in the browser you made it in.
Cookies and storage
No cookies. Your browser stores two things locally, which never leave it: your light/dark theme choice, and the delete key of each report you made.
Your rights
You may ask to see, correct or delete any data about you, or object to its use, by writing to [email protected]. You may also complain to your data protection authority.
